Humans need to cut down trees for many reasons (here are some of them)
· Agriculture.
· Humans (governments and individuals) cut down trees to allow space for them to grow crops. This action can be done for many reasons breaching from supplying their families to building an economic status.
· Building Space.
Forests hold an ideal space for building because of the size and state of the land. Buildings such as industries and housing require a large amount of land. The need for deforestation in regards to building space is mounting because of the increase of population.
· Firewood.
People who live in particularly rural areas, where general supplies such as electricity and gas are unavailable. Have no option but to result in the cutting down and burning of firewood to gain them with basic needs such as heat.
· Wood for products such as furniture, pencils and paper etc.
This action we can all relate to. As we may not be directly taking out the action to supply people with these products we could possibly be on the purchasing side of it all. The main reason that humans carry out this action is that it is how they support and maintain their lifestyle.

Why it is so hard to stop deforestation even though it is having a bad effect on the environment?
It is very hard to stop deforestation because our world relies on timber to make infrastructures, paper and other commonly used equipment. We have no other alternatives so we solely rely on the cutting down of trees for these resources. The worlds economic state is in such dis-repair that most people do not own laptops or other forms of computers to do their writing on. Even if this was possible, the majority of the population would want to print their work which would still use up paper. These by-products wouldn’t be so bad if humans replace the trees that they cut down. Even for people who do replant trees, this makes a minor effect as trees take a long time to grow to full height.
Its is also hard to stop the building of infrastructures on land where trees have been. This is because as our world's population grows there is less and less room to build infrastructures, so we turn to land where trees grow. Humans then chop down the trees to accommodate housing in the land we have so we have no option but to build on land where trees had been. It is also hard to plant and harvest croon the land we already have for the same reason. We really have no more room. The land that trees grow on is also mad of rich soil ideal for agriculture. There is also becoming less and less rich soil that is not already in use.
Also in majority of the areas that firewood is used there is no other alternative because it is hard if not impossible to supply these families with electrical energy (or other energy such as wind and water energy) because of economic or other reasons.

The impact deforestation is having on the Carbon Cycle
These by-products wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the reason that after humans cut down the trees they do not replace them. Even for people who do replant trees, this makes a minor effect as trees take a long time to grow to full height.
Deforestation has an effect on the Carbon Cycle also known as the Greenhouse gas effect and global warming. Trees and forest balance the amount of Carbon in the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis in which plants make their own food with carbon dioxide. When there is an access amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere a ‘blanket’ of carbon dioxide is created and this ‘blanket’ traps heat and prevents it from leaving the earth surface in the atmosphere. This excess heat warms the earth. If there is too much of it and this causes Global Warming and the heating of the earth.

The impact deforestation is having on:
· Landscape-Deforestation has an effect to the Landscape because there will not be as many plants and trees to take in the earth’s carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Thus causing air pollution, global warming and other such green house gas problems.
· Animals and Plants-Deforestation has an effect to the Animals and Plants because this causes the loss of their ecosystems and habitats. This causing animals to die and in extreme cases species to become endangered or even extinct.
· People-Deforestation has the effect to People because the lack of trees and plants means the lack of oxygen which humans need to breathe and live. Eventually if we continue to use the trees for our own benefit they will eventually run out and we will not be able to use trees even if it is essential.

Things that should be done to prevent this activity or to reduce the impact of this activity.
· Forestation or Reforestation. This is the opposite of Deforestation. In this process trees are planted in paces that have possibly been decimated of trees 0r places which are bare naturally and could be covered by trees.
· For every tree that is cut down a minimum of 3 trees should be planted in its place.
· Trees such as soft wood trees which are part of the quick growing variety would be grown and used for commercial use. Eg. Making furniture, pencils and paper. These are the only trees that would be used for this purpose and they would solely be used for this purpose.
· We should create strict laws against deforestation worldwide.
· We stop using firewood/charcoal for a source of energy and do not revert to fossil fuel or electricity energy but wind and solar energy which is more eco friendly.
· We should continue and enlarge education worldwide, on the importance of forestation and reforestation and the disadvantages of deforestation.
